Privacy Policy
Last updated: December 10, 2025
The Short Version
Your data stays on your device by default. We do not sell your data or use third-party tracking SDKs.
Overview
SilentProof helps users document noise disturbances with decibel measurements, audio evidence, and report exports. Privacy is a core product principle.
Data Collection
The app processes microphone recordings, decibel measurements, GPS coordinates, timestamps, and evidence metadata on your device.
By default, data remains local unless you explicitly share evidence or enable iCloud sync (Pro feature).
iCloud Sync (Pro Feature)
Pro users can optionally enable iCloud sync. Synced data is stored in your personal Apple iCloud account via CloudKit and is associated with your Apple ID account, not with a SilentProof account.
Third-Party Services
SilentProof does not use ad networks or third-party analytics SDKs.
We rely on Apple system services only:
- Apple StoreKit (in-app purchases)
- Apple iCloud / CloudKit (optional sync for Pro users)
Permissions Required
SilentProof requests the minimum required permissions:
- Microphone: capture decibel measurements and audio evidence
- Location: geotag evidence with where the disturbance occurred
These permissions are used when you actively start measurement or recording.
Data Sharing
Sharing is user-initiated. You may choose to export PDF reports, share audio, or send complaint materials through iOS share sheets.
Data Retention
Evidence remains available until you delete it. Local data is removed when the app is uninstalled. For synced data, retention follows your iCloud account and deletion actions.
Children's Privacy
SilentProof is intended for users documenting real-world noise disturbances. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children through external tracking systems.
Changes to This Policy
If we update this policy, the "Last updated" date will be revised and the new text will ship with app and website updates.
